Description
What is artemisinin?
Artemisinin is a sesquiterpene lactone obtained from the plant Artemisia Annua L. This compound has been used in traditional Chinese medicine for the last 2000 years. Artemisia has three most famous derivatives: artesunate which is soluble in water, artemeter which is in the form of oil and artemisinin which is the active derivative of the parent plant. Artemisinin has the ability to break through the blood-brain barrier. This compound is obtained from the upper parts of the plant, leaves or flowers. The plant is grown in Europe, North Africa, western Asia and North America.
Artemisinin is the active ingredient extracted from the plant sweet wormwood (Artemisia annua).
It grows in areas from Pakistan to China. The highest concentration of the active ingredient contains the leaves and flowers of the plant.
The herb was discovered by Chinese doctors IV, when it was used as an antipyretic. Later, they started prescribing it against malaria, the only cure for the disease. It was not until the 1970s that the active ingredient Artemisinini was isolated, its use as a powerful tool in the fight against parasites, tumor cells, pathogenic microorganisms, etc. Over time, sweet wormwood (artemisia anua) has gained a reputation for its amazing protective properties. Today, people around the world use this Chinese plant to maintain overall health and vitality.
Use of artemisinin in medicine
This medicine has been confirmed by the World Health Organization as a treatment for malaria. The artemisinin molecule contains an endoperoxide bridge, which when it comes in contact with iron, forms free radicals. Artemisinin also contains coartem, which is able to eliminate malaria in 96% of cases, according to studies by Researchers of America. Artemisinin is also used in medicine in the following ways:
As a sedative: Artemisinin contains some ingredients that promote sleep and relax nerves and muscles.
As an anti-bacterial agent: it is used to prevent infections, to treat wounds, skin problems as an antibacterial agent.
As an anti-inflammatory: when used in this way, artemisinin reduces sweating and pain caused by the virus.
This preparation is also an oxygenator.
The use of artemisinin in the treatment of cancer
According to the American Cancer Association, the extract has a promising place in the world of preparations for the treatment of cancerous diseases. From the information of many studies, it has been confirmed that artemisinin reduces the size of the tumor by 28% in the first 16 hours. The results were even better when artemisinin was used in combination with iron. Artemisinin works on the principle of oxidation. It enters cancer cells and reacts with iron that is already present in the body, releasing its peroxide molecules. This molecule generates highly reactive oxygen units, which are free radicals. Free radicals destroy a cancer cell.
An effective tool to help treat fungal infections, parasitic infections, e-coli and other pathogenic bacteria. It helps kill cancer cells.

Why use Artemisinin?
Protection against fungal infections:
Infections and overpopulation of fungi are common conditions in people in developed countries. About 70% of people suffer from fungus at some point. This condition is a fact when the bacteria in the intestines are useful in a reduced number and cannot cope with the population of fungi. In healthy people, beneficial bacteria eat about 1 – 1.5 kg of fungi. In the absence of beneficial bacteria, the fungus manages to overgrow. Mushrooms like candida they can fatally damage the intestines (leaky gut syndrome) and allow fungi to enter the bloodstream, colonizing certain areas of the body. Symptoms of fungal invasion include bloating, gas, intestinal disorders, inflammation, cystitis, ulcers on the oral mucosa and others. Artemisinin is very effective in killing fungi, especially in Candida Albicans. It is also used successfully in irritable bowel syndrome, Crohn’s disease and excessive growth of small intestine bacteria – the cause of fibromyalgia.
Artemisinin kills parasites:
The second most common parasite in the world after malaria is a group of blood parasites called Trematodes (liver, pancreas, lungs, intestines, ocular and other flukes).
Autumn-winter and spring periods are the time when parasites are activated, viral epidemics appear, everything in nature subsides, depressions appear. Depression is a clear sign of an overload of parasites and toxins. And this is a good time for antiparasitic prevention and body cleansing.
Artemisinin destroys E coli, other pathogenic bacteria and cancer cells:
One of the important properties of Artemisinin is the content of sesquiterpenes, which have essential antibacterial and pharmacological properties. Studies show that they suppress inflammation and tumor formation. Some of them have an antimicrobial effect, destroying the cell wall of fungi and invasive bacteria.
Safe use of Artemisinin
In traditional Chinese medicine, artemisinin supplements are not used in functional disorders of the spleen and stomach, such as indigestion and others. It is not used in cases after birth with anemia or diarrhea due to the “cooling” effect of the plant. It is not taken together with the Chinese herb rhubarb (Da Huang, lat. Radik et Rhizome Rhei), angelica (lat. Radik Angelicae Sinensis) and sticky remanija (lat. Radik Rehmanniae).
If you are taking artemisinin as part of cancer therapy under the supervision of a doctor, wait at least two weeks after the end of radiation therapy. If you are a smoker, stop smoking for two to three months, otherwise artemisinin will damage healthy cells. Avoid artemisinin if you are taking antidiabetic drugs, seizures, antacids, sucralfate, proton pump inhibitors, and histamine antagonists. It is also not taken with antiviral, antibacterial drugs and calcium channel blockers.
